Marko Randelovic is as a Principal Technical Leader in the Advanced Nuclear Technology group. His research activities currently focus on the Plant Commissioning, Model Based Systems Engineering, Risk-Informed Inspection and Test Strategies for Advanced Reactors.
Randelovic joined EPRI in 2018 with 11 years of engineering, physics testing and licensing experience gained with Westinghouse Electric Company. His initially served as Safety System Engineer for Westinghouse Belgium. In this role, he was accountable for performing safety analysis and decommissioning studies for various European Nuclear Power Plants. In 2009, Randelovic was transferred to Westinghouse’s Head Quarters in Pittsburgh to support the design of the AP1000 Passive Core Cooling System (PXS). His primarily focused was on mathematical and physical modeling of the thermal-hydraulic phenomena related to passive safety systems. Lead engineer for the development of the First-of-A-Kind (FOAK) methodology for the extended long-term core cooling for the Station Blackout transient, Randelovic supported numerous interactions with the NRC and ACRS for the licensing of the passive safety features and FOAK methodology. Following AP1000 PXS design activities, Randelovic held lead engineering position in the design group at Vogtle III&IV in GA. He ensured piping, piping supports, mechanical components were built and installed to design specifications and resolved engineering problems encountered during on-site construction. In 2016 and 2017, Randelovic co-directed preparation and execution of the AP1000 FOAK PXS tests at Sanmen and Haiyang units in China.
Randelovic received MS and BS degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the Brussels School of Engineering in Belgium; where he implemented dynamic PRA methods for the assessment of the passive systems. He also received MS of Engineering Management with Ohio University in 2021.
